Even The Great Ones Ask

barahm mahays siDh mun indraa bhagat daan jas mangee. ||1||
Brahma, Shiva, the Siddhas, the silent sages and Indra beg for the charity of His Praise and devotion to Him. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Brahma, Shiva, the Siddhas with their great powers, the silent sages, and Indra, king of the gods, all beg for one gift: to praise the One and to love the One.

The greatest gift is not power, but the chance to love—and even the mighty long for it.
The deeper layer

The greatest gift is the chance to love the One.

The verse names the mightiest beings of the old stories. Brahma, the creator. Mahesh, another name for Shiva. The Siddhas, people with great spiritual powers. The mun, the silent sages. And Indra, king of the gods.

Even these great ones stand and ask. They ask for bhagat daan jas: the gift of devotion and praise. Bhagat means loving devotion. Daan means a gift. Jas means praise.

Imagine the best players in the world lining up, not for a trophy, but just for the chance to play for love of the game. The highest treasure is not power. It is the chance to love. Even greatness bows to that.

A Question to Sit With

What do you think is worth more than being powerful or important?
