Slave Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of the Lord, the Perfect, Divine Primal Being. ||2||5||8||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Be kind to me, my One, so that I may serve You day and night.
Nanak says: I am Your servant, and I seek the shelter of the Lord, the perfect, shining, first Being of all.
Being allowed to give yourself to something good is its own kind of gift.
Ask for kindness so you can serve the One day and night, and take shelter in the perfect One.
Kar kirpaa: show kindness, so that din rain sayv, service day and night, becomes possible. Saranaagatee: taking shelter. Pooran dayv: the complete, shining One. Service is asked as a gift, never a duty; shelter and offering are held together.
