In plain words

Everyone longs for paradise, for freedom, for heaven; every day they hope and hope for it.

The people who long to see the One do not even ask to be set free. Seeing the One, their minds are filled and at peace.

The deepest wish is not to be rewarded, but simply to see what you love.
The deeper layer

The people who love the One want to see the One more than any heaven.

Surag, mukat, baikunth are heaven, liberation and paradise, the prizes almost everyone hopes for. Har darsan kay jan, those who long for the sight of the One, mukat na maangeh, do not even ask for liberation. Tripat, deep contentment, comes from the seeing itself.

Think of a child at the airport who wants only to see a parent's face come through the gate, more than any gift in the suitcase. What they want is presence.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you would rather have near you than any prize?
