Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Say the Naam of the One, the One, the One who is in everything.

The holy, the holy people of the One, are good and noble. Meeting the holy, I love the One with joy.

Loving the One grows warmer and easier among holy people.
The deeper layer

Say the Naam and meet holy people, and love for the One blooms with joy.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. Raamaa ram raamo: the One who fills all things, named again and again, the way you say the name of someone you love. SaaDh jan neekay: the holy are noble. Mil saaDhoo har rang keejai: meeting them, love for the One blossoms. The Naam and the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One — belong together.

A Question to Sit With

Who makes it easier for you to be your kindest, happiest self?
