The path of ignorance and darkness is utterly treacherous; they are loaded down with the crushing load of egotism. ||7||

In plain words

Those who want Maya, more and more Maya, slowly spoil inside that Maya, like fruit left out too long.

The road of not-knowing and darkness is very hard. They carry a crushing load of pride.

Pride is a heavy load — and every heavy load is one you can set down.
The deeper layer

Wanting more and more of the world's glitter wears a person away, and pride is a crushing load on a dark road.

Maa-i-aa maa-i-aa kay jo adhikaa-ee: those who want Maya above all. Vich maa-i-aa pachai pacheejai: they rot away inside it. Agi-aan andhayr mahaa panth bikh-rhaa: the road of not-knowing and darkness is very hard. Ahankaar bhaar lad leejai: they are loaded with the heavy weight of ego. A load that is picked up can also be put down.

A Question to Sit With

What is a load you have been carrying that you are ready to put down?
