ਤੁਮ ਬਡ ਦਾਤੇ ਜੀਅ ਜੀਅਨ ਕੇ ਤੁਮ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਹਮ ਬਿਰਥੇ ॥੨॥
tum bad daatay jee-a jee-an kay tum jaanhu ham birthay. ||2||
You are the Great Giver of all beings and creatures; only You know our inner pain. ||2||

You are the Great Giver of every living being, and only You know the pain inside us.
To be fully known by the One you love is a deep comfort.
Love for the One makes you long to see it, and the One knows the ache inside you.
Baho pareet lagee (so much love has taken hold) and lochah (I long) name devotion as tender attachment. Tum jaanhu ham birthay: You know our inner pain. The One is the Giver who also knows the hidden heart, and being known is itself a comfort.
