Slave Nanak seeks Your Sanctuary; he is the dust of the feet of Your Saints. ||2||4||12||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Real peace, joy, and delight come flowing from the One — nothing sweeter exists.

I come to rest at that doorway, asking only to belong there, humble as the dust at the feet of those who love the One.

The deepest joy is found in belonging, not in being above others.
The deeper layer

Charan amrit is the nectar of the divine Feet — the sweetness of nearness. Being “the dust of the saints' feet” is the language of deep humility, the opposite of ego: the joy here is found in belonging, not in being above anyone. Nanak signs as daas, a servant, closing the song on rest rather than striving.

A Question to Sit With

When have you felt real joy from being part of something bigger than yourself?
