Raag Kaydaaraa

The opening shabad of Raag Kaydaaraa sets the raag's keynote in its very first line: raam naam nit gaavee-ai — sing the Name continually. From there the shabad moves through four short pauris, each turning the One into an image of family love. P0 (the rahau merged with verse 1) states the practice and its fruit: the One is beyond the senses, yet becomes seen through the Guru, and grace is what turns a heart toward Him. P1 calls the Name priceless and given, clearing the old account and offering a fresh start. P2 blossoms with the mother-and-child image on seeing those who love the Name. P3 closes as a child before a Father, and a cow gladdened by her calf — love flowing both ways.
