In plain words

Restless energy, heavy dullness, calm brightness — all the moods and forces that move through us are part of the great play of appearances.

But there is a fourth place, quiet and still, beneath all of them — and whoever finds that place has found the highest thing there is.

Beneath every passing mood there is a still place that nothing can disturb.
The deeper layer

Our changing moods are only the surface. Something still lies underneath.

Old Indian teaching names three gunas, three qualities that move through everything. Raj gun is busy, restless energy. Tam gun is heavy dullness. Sat gun is calm brightness. Kabir says all three are maa-i-aa, the changing show of the world.

Think of the weather: sunny one day, stormy the next, then foggy. The weather keeps changing, but the sky behind it stays. Cha-uthay pad is the fourth state, sometimes called turiya. It is the quiet, still awareness under all three moods. Whoever finds it reaches param pad, the highest state.

Kabir uses these shared words warmly. He is not attacking them. He uses them like a map to the deepest calm.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever felt a quiet stillness underneath all your busy feelings?
