See Truly, and Praise Pours Out of You

ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥
hukam pachhaanai so har gun vakhaanai.
Those who recognize the Hukam of the Lord's Command chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਨੀਸਾਣੈ ॥
gur kai sabad naam neesaanai.
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they are glorified with the Naam.
ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਦਰਿ ਲੇਖਾ ਸਚੈ ਛੂਟਸਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
sabhnaa kaa dar laykhaa sachai chhootas naam suhaavani-aa. ||3||
Everyone's account is kept in the True Court, and through the Beauty of the Naam, they are saved. ||3||

In plain words

Whoever truly understands the way things actually work naturally starts speaking of the One's goodness — it just pours out of them. Through the Guru's Word, the Name becomes their mark, like a stamp showing who they are. Everyone's life gets weighed by what's real, and the one carried home is the one made beautiful by the Name.

When you really see how things are, praise isn't a duty — it just pours out of you.
The deeper layer

When you truly see how the world works, praise is not a chore. It just pours out of you.

Hukam pachhaanai so har gun vakhaanai — whoever recognizes the hukam speaks of the One's goodness. The hukam is the One's way, how everything truly works. Why would seeing it lead to praise? Because once you really see how things are arranged, you are amazed. The order of it all. Everything held together on one thread. The kindness running through it. Wonder and thanks become the only honest answer.

Think of looking up on a clear night far from city lights and seeing the whole sky full of stars. Nobody has to tell you to say "wow." It just comes out. That is what Waheguru means: "Wonderful Lord!" It is the wonder that spills out of someone who has seen how things really are.

Gur kai sabad naam neesaanai — through the Guru's Word, the Name becomes their neesaan, their mark. Another shabad pictured the Name as a true flag. Here it is about who you are. Your deepest mark is not your name, your trophies, or your looks. It is whether the Name has stamped you. That is the only ID card that counts at the True Court.

The last line could be misread. Sabhnaa kaa dar laykhaa sachai — everyone's account is kept at the True Court. It can sound like a strict judge with a big book of mistakes. But the "account" is not an angry God adding up punishments. It is simply the hukam, the honest weighing of what was real in a life and what was fake.

And you do not pass by being perfect. Chhootas naam suhaavani-aa — those made beautiful by the Name are set free. Not the one with the cleanest record. The one in whom the One came alive. The weighing is real. But the way through it is not fear and keeping score. It is letting the Name make you beautiful. Grace, not being perfect, carries you home.

A Question to Sit With

The deepest "ID" of a person isn't their name or grades — it's what they've let shape them. If your true mark is "whatever you let make you beautiful," what's stamping you right now?
