Raag Maajh
The Rahao (Pauri 0) sets the whole tone: the divine is named as the seeker's own mind, body, and breath, yet she still aches and begs to meet someone awake who can point her toward the Beloved. Pauri 1 answers the cry — she has searched herself thoroughly, but the path opens only in the Sat Sangat, the company where the Lord already abides. Pauri 2 deepens into trust: the Guru becomes protector, mother and father, and the heart-lotus blossoms when the Guru's water reaches it. Pauri 3 returns to longing as the closing note — sleepless with separation-pain, the seeker prays for mercy and ends in blossoming joy. The shabad thus moves from hunger, to the discovery of where to look, to surrender, and back to the ache that is itself love straining toward union.
