The priceless jewel isn't hidden in some faraway temple or locked treasure chest. It's in the home of your own self — and you find it by truly *listening* to the Word.
When that happens, the dark of not-knowing lifts, and you see clearly: the Light was glowing inside your own heart the whole time.
After the sharp picture of the crane, the song turns hopeful. The priceless jewel is inside your own house.
Ratan padaarath ghar tay paa-i-aa — the priceless jewel is found at home, in one's own being. Ratan means jewel, the thing of greatest worth. It isn't out there. You don't find it after a long trip to a holy place. It's right here, in the house of the self. It's the same teaching found in Japji Sahib: the jewels are already inside the mind. You don't need to go anywhere, because what you're seeking is closer than the seeker.
The way to find it is listening. Poorai satgur sabad sunaa-i-aa — when the Perfect True Guru lets you hear the Word. This is deep listening, not just sound going in one ear and out the other. It's the kind of attention that receives instead of filtering, like really listening to a friend instead of waiting for your turn to talk. It grows still enough for the Word to land. The jewel is already in the house. Deep listening is switching on the light to find it.
The last line finishes the move: gur parsaad miti-aa anDhi-aaraa — by the Guru's grace, the darkness is gone. Ghat chaanan aap pachhaanni-aa — there is light in the heart, and I recognize my own self. Notice the word: recognize, not create or buy. The Light was never missing. It was burning inside all along. Not knowing was simply the dark that hid it. Grace doesn't install the Light. It lifts the dark, and you see what was always there.
What might already be glowing inside you, waiting only for you to get quiet enough to notice it?
