In plain words

The truly beautiful, truly magnetic people are the ones who spend their time among the holy.

And the ones who have gathered up the treasure of the **Name** — those are the deep ones, the wide ones, the people with real substance to them.

Real beauty isn't features or finery but a light that settles on those who keep holy company — and real depth belongs to the soul built around the inexhaustible Name.
The deeper layer

This stanza quietly redefines two things the world is endlessly anxious about: beauty and substance. They alone are beautiful and attractive, who abide in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. Real beauty, Guru Arjan says, is not a matter of features or finery; it is something that settles onto a person who keeps the company of those turned toward the One. There is a genuine attractiveness — a light, a warmth — that comes from the Saadh Sangat and cannot be bought or applied from outside. We become luminous in the company that points us toward the light.

And then substance: Those who have gathered in the wealth of the Lord's Name — they alone are deep and thoughtful and vast. The words are striking — gambhir, deep; vast. The person rich in the Name has an inner spaciousness and depth that the person rich only in worldly things lacks. They are not shallow or brittle; there is room in them, a steadiness and a largeness, because they are built around something inexhaustible.

Together these two lines reframe what makes a person worth admiring. The world chases surface beauty and the appearance of importance; this stanza locates real beauty in holy company and real depth in the wealth of the Name. The most beautiful and the most substantial people, by this measure, may be entirely overlooked by a world that is looking at the wrong things — and they would not mind, because their beauty and depth were never for display.

A Question to Sit With

Who is the most genuinely 'beautiful' or 'deep' person you know — and where does that quality actually come from?
