This is the first of Guru Ram Das's Maaroo Solhe. Its keynote is the teaching as a doorway. The True One, who sets everything right (P0), lives in every mind (P1) and is met through the teacher — who is wisdom, worship, and the jewel of the Name all at once (P2). The hymn moves through the shelter that never closes (P3), the honest asking for the priceless Name (P4), to its luminous center: the sweet nectar at the tenth door and the unstruck music (P5). It ends by turning death into the gentlest homecoming — the Giver of all life gathering the soul into an embrace (P15).
