In plain words

The old stories tell how, held up by the Guru's wisdom, a mountain was lifted on a fingertip.

Held up by that same wisdom, heavy stones floated across the sea.

Nanak says: taking the Guru's wisdom to heart, the highest state is reached, and the Guru clears doubt away.

The right teaching can lift what looks far too heavy to move.
The deeper layer

The Guru's wisdom can lift what seems impossible.

The verse recalls two much-loved stories from India. In one, Krishna lifts Govardhan, a whole mountain. In the other, Rama floats stones across the ocean to build a bridge. The verse says both happened through gurmat, the wisdom of the Guru. These stories are told with respect, as pictures of what that wisdom can do.

Think of a crane lifting a steel beam that no person could move. With the right help, heavy things rise. Taking the Guru's wisdom to heart, we reach param pad, the highest state. And the Guru clears away bharam, doubt.

A Question to Sit With

What once seemed impossible to you until the right help came?
