Asking Grace to Fill the Empty Places

har jee-o avgani-aaray no gun keejai.
O Dear Lord, please bless me, the worthless sinner, with virtue.
aapay bakhas laihi naam deejai.
Forgive me, and bless me with Your Name.
gurmukh hovai so pat paa-ay ikat naam nivaasee hay. ||12||
One who becomes Gurmukh, is honored; he dwells in the Name of the One Lord alone. ||12||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

O One, fill my empty places with goodness.

Forgive me, and give me Your Name.

The one who turns to the Guru is honored, living in the One Name alone.

It is alright to ask grace to fill the empty places in you.
The deeper layer

An empty-handed prayer: a simple, dignified request for grace to fill what is missing. There is no shame in asking.

A Question to Sit With

What is a good quality you would like to grow more of in yourself?
