The True Lord, his Beloved, is always with him; the rounds of birth and death are ended for him. ||1||

In plain words

The one whose heart is joined to the Naam stays clean and clear inside.

The One they love is always right there with them, close as breath.

And the old fear of endings loses its grip, because that closeness never ends.

Real union is measured by closeness of heart, not by outer signs.
The deeper layer

Jogee jugat naam nirmaa-il means the true Jogi is the one joined to the Name, and so stays spotless. A Jogi (yogi) is someone who seeks God through special practices. Jog means union, being joined.

Guru Nanak says a real Jogi is not known by robes or body postures. It is the joining inside that counts. Sadaa sach sangay: the True Beloved is always with such a person. So janam maran, the circle of being born and dying, loses its hold. Think of a phone that stays charged because it never leaves its charger.

Raag Maaroo is a mood often sung about life and its end. Here that mood turns into comfort. Real union lasts longer than every ending.

A Question to Sit With

What makes you feel joined to something you love?
