o-ankaar sabh sarisat upaa-ee.
The One Universal Creator created the entire Universe.
ਸਭੁ ਖੇਲੁ ਤਮਾਸਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
sabh khayl tamaasaa tayree vadi-aa-ee.
All the plays and dramas are to Your glory and greatness.
ਆਪੇ ਵੇਕ ਕਰੇ ਸਭਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਆਪੇ ਭੰਨਿ ਘੜਾਇਦਾ ॥੨॥
aapay vayk karay sabh saachaa aapay bhann gharhaa-idaa. ||2||
The True Lord Himself makes all distinctions; He Himself breaks and builds. ||2||

The One brought the whole universe into being.
Every scene and story in it sings the greatness of the One, who sorts and shapes it all, taking apart and building anew.
The whole universe is a story singing the greatness of the One.
Creation is the One's play; all its diversity points back to divine glory. The One breaks and builds in ongoing creativity.
