Sikhism·Raag Maaroo·Shabad 121
Verse 7 of 16

Why the World Aches Without the Name

bin naavai sabh dukh sansaaraa.
Without the Name, all the world suffers in misery.
baho karam kamaaveh vaDheh vikaaraa.
The more actions one does, the more the corruption increases.
naam na sayveh ki-o sukh paa-ee-ai bin naavai dukh paa-idaa. ||7||
Without serving the Naam, how can anyone find peace? Without the Naam, one suffers in pain. ||7||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

A life that forgets the Name can feel heavy and sad, no matter how busy it gets.

Piling up more and more doing does not fill that gap; peace comes instead the moment the Name is welcomed back in.

More and more doing cannot fill a gap that only the Name can fill.
The deeper layer

Without the Name, the world feels heavy. Piling up deeds without the Name only adds to the unrest, and peace is there the moment a person turns back.

A Question to Sit With

When has staying busy not made you feel better?
