Sikhism·Raag Maaroo·Shabad 125
Verse 6 of 16

Joyfully Drunk on Love

jo Dhur raatay say hun raatay.
Those who are so pre-ordained to be imbued, are imbued with love for the Lord.
gur parsaadee sehjay maatay.
By Guru's Grace, they are intuitively intoxicated.
satgur sayv sadaa parabh paa-i-aa aapai aap milaa-idaa. ||6||
Serving the True Guru forever, they find God; He Himself unites them with Himself. ||6||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Those whose path was readied are colored through with love for the One. By grace, a natural, happy sort of intoxication fills them — not from any drink, but from wonder.

Serving the True Guru, they find the One, who gathers them close.

The best intoxication is wonder, and it costs nothing but openness.
The deeper layer

Maatay (intoxicated) here is the joy of wonder, not any substance — sehjay maatay, a natural intoxication by grace. This is the awe at the root of Waheguru: breath-taken delight that comes from seeing what was always there.

A Question to Sit With

When did wonder last take your breath away?
