ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥

Without the True Guru, there is no Sangat, no Congregation.

Without the Shabad, no one can cross over to the other side.

One who intuitively chants God's Glorious Praises day and night - his light merges into the Light. ||12||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Without the True Guru, there is no Sangat. Without the Guru's word, no one crosses to the far shore.
Whoever sings the One's praise, easily and naturally, day and night — their little light melts into the great Light.
Through the Guru comes the Sangat, and through the Shabad, the far shore.
The Sangat and the crossing (paar) both come through the Guru and the Shabad. Singing the One's praises with ease, day and night, ends in jotee jot — light merging into Light — so the crossing and the union are one movement.
The Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One — gathers around the Guru. And the far shore is reached by song, sung day and night.
