The One Plays and Listens

aapay kudrat karay veechaaraa.
He contemplates His own creative power.
aapay hee sach karay pasaaraa.
The True Lord Himself creates the expanse of the Universe.
aapay khayl khilaavai din raatee aapay sun sun bheejaa hay. ||3||
He Himself stages the play, day and night; He Himself listens, and hearing, rejoices. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The One thinks over its own creative power, and the True One spreads out this whole wide world.

Day and night the One sets the play in motion — and then listens to all of it, delighted by what it hears.

The whole world is the One's play, and the One delights to watch and listen.
The deeper layer

aapay khayl khilaavai — the One stages the play, day and night. sun sun bheejaa — the One listens and is moved by what it hears: a lovely turn, the divine as the deep listener too, delighting in its own creation (the play, leela).

A Question to Sit With

If life is a kind of play, what part do you most enjoy?
