Shalok, First Mehl:

bhogtan bhai man vasai haykai paaDhar heed.
The Fear of God abides in the mind of the innocent; this is the straight path to the One Lord.
ਅਤਿ ਡਾਹਪਣਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਘਣੋ ਤੀਨੇ ਥਾਵ ਭਰੀਡੁ ॥੧॥
at daahpan dukh ghano teenay thaav bhareed. ||1||
Jealousy and envy bring terrible pain, and one is cursed throughout the three worlds. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Loving awe lives naturally in a simple, open heart, and that is the straight road to the One.

Ill-will and envy only bring pain, mostly to the one who carries them.

So set that weight down; the clear, kind heart already walks the direct way home.

Ill-will is a weight that hurts most the one who carries it.
The deeper layer

A shalok of the First Mehl. The 'innocent' heart, filled with awe (not dread), walks the straight path. Jealousy and envy bring 'terrible pain' wherever one goes, in all three worlds; that pain lands first on the one who carries them.

A Question to Sit With

How does it feel to let go of a grudge you have been holding?
