In plain words

The moment You step into my yard, the whole ground turns beautiful.

Other than You, my One, no one looks after me.

Love makes an ordinary place beautiful just by showing up.
The deeper layer

When the One comes close, even an ordinary place becomes beautiful.

This is a Dakhanay shalok, a short verse in a southern Punjabi way of speaking. It sounds like a love song. Jay too vateh any-nay — "If You come into my courtyard." Habh Dharat suhaavee ho-ay — then the whole earth turns beautiful.

Think of a plain kitchen on a normal evening. Then your grandmother walks in, and suddenly the whole room feels warm. Nothing about the room changed. Someone you love arrived.

The second line says only the One truly looks after me. The verse calls the One kantai, the beloved Husband. It is a picture of closeness and care. Presence is what changes everything.

A Question to Sit With

What place feels special because of who is there?
