Verse 2 of 16

What You Write, No One Can Erase

jis karnaa so kar kar vaykhai.
He who created the creation, beholds what He has created.
ko-ay na maytai saachay laykhai.
No one can erase the Inscription of the True Lord.
aapay karay karaa-ay aapay aapay day vadi-aa-ee hay. ||2||
He Himself is the Doer, the Cause of causes; He Himself is the One who bestows glorious greatness. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

You made everything, and You watch over what You made with loving eyes.

The story You have written cannot be rubbed out by anyone.

You are the doer of all, and the One who lifts us into greatness.

The One watches over all creation like an author who loves the story.
The deeper layer

The inscription that no one can erase points to hukam, the deep ordering of things. Paired with the One beholding creation, it becomes a picture of a caring author rather than a stern accountant.

A Question to Sit With

If your life were a story, what kind of chapter are you in right now?
