Verse 7 of 16

Every Life Belongs to the One and Returns Home

baalak marai baalak kee leelaa.
The child dies in his childish games.
kahi kahi roveh baal rangeelaa.
They cry and mourn, saying that he was such a playful child.
jis kaa saa so tin hee lee-aa bhoolaa rovanhaaraa hay. ||7||
The Lord who owns him has taken him back. Those who weep and mourn are mistaken. ||7||

In plain words

Every life, even the shortest and most playful, belongs completely to the One.

When someone we love goes, our hearts ache and we miss them — that longing is love, and it is real.

But nothing is lost. The One who gave that life has simply welcomed it home again, safe and cherished.

What looks like loss is a life returning safely home to the One.
The deeper layer

Jis kaa saa so tin hee lee-aa — the One it belonged to has taken it back. No life was ever ours to keep; each one is lent by the One and returns to the One. The missing that follows is love, and the life itself is safe at home.

A Question to Sit With

When you miss someone, how can remembering that missing them is a kind of love help?
