Subdue your egotism, and serve the Guru; O servant Nanak, you shall be drenched with the Lord's Love. ||17||2||8||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Meet the True Guru and come to know the way.
Walk it, and you arrive at the One with a heart at peace, no account left to settle.
Quiet the ego and serve the Guru. Nanak says: then your whole being is soaked through with the love of the One.
Find the Guru, quiet the ego, and be soaked through with love.
Meet the Guru, come to know the biDh (the way), quiet ha-umai, and be bheenaa — drenched — in love. The friend named at the opening is, in the end, the one who brings us home.
A Question to Sit With
What would it feel like to arrive somewhere with nothing left to worry about?
