Bathe at the sacred shrine of Truth, and sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.

Reflect upon the essence of reality, and lovingly focus your consciousness on the Lord.

At the very last moment, the Messenger of Death will not be able to touch you, if you chant the Name of the Beloved Lord. ||5||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Let Truth itself be the sacred water you bathe in, and sing the wonder of the One.

Think on what is real, and rest your heart lovingly on the One.

Then, even at the very last moment of life, holding the Beloved's Name, there is nothing at all to fear — only a gentle going home.

Bathe in Truth now, and the last moment becomes a gentle going home.
The deeper layer

The pilgrimage (tirath) is inward: bathing in Truth itself. Whoever says the Beloved's Name meets the last moment (ant kaal) free of fear; death's messenger cannot touch them.

A Question to Sit With

What would it mean to treat honesty itself as something that keeps you clean and clear?
