Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Your five senses are like five restless birds. When you find the One inside, they stop flying off in every direction and grow calm.
Then your life becomes a fruitful tree, heavy with sweet fruit.
Turned toward the Guru, you sing with an easy, natural joy, and you taste the sweetness of the One in everything.
When your senses grow calm, life turns sweet.
The five birds are the senses. When settled, the person lives in 'sahj', a natural, effortless ease (the poise of a soul no longer fighting itself). The tree then bears 'amrit fal', the fruit of the nectar-sweet Name.
A Question to Sit With
When do your five senses feel calm and settled instead of pulling you everywhere?
