Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
O my mind, accept the Hukam, the flow of life, and you will find peace.
The One is pleased with the One's own will. Whoever the One forgives finds nothing blocking the way.
Saying yes to the flow of life brings a peace that fighting it never could.
Accept the flow of life and peace comes; whoever the One forgives finds the road clear.
This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. Man ray hukam man sukh ho-ay: O mind, accept the Hukam and find peace. Mann here means accepting it and moving in step with it, more than agreeing in words. Bakhsay means forgives, and bighan is an obstacle; held in that forgiveness, the path clears.
A Question to Sit With
When did saying yes to a change turn out better than resisting it?
