The Deeper Stillness, Found In The Sangat

Attachment to the three-phased show of Maya pervades all the created forms.

In the Sat Sangat, the Society of the Saints, the state of supreme awareness is attained. The Merciful Lord carries us across. ||2||

In plain words

Clinging to Maya, the world's busy show of three moods, spreads through every shape that is made.

In the Sangat, the fourth state, beyond the three, is found. With a kind glance, the One carries us across.

Beneath the changing moods of the world lies a fourth, deeper stillness.
The deeper layer

Beneath the world's changing moods there is a deeper stillness, and you find it among people who remember the One.

Tarai gun maa-i-aa means Maya, the world's busy show, in three moods. You could call them rushing, sluggish and calm. Sabh vartai aakaaree: they color every shape in creation.

Think of the weather changing all day: sun, clouds, rain. Above the weather, the sky itself stays still. Turee-aa gun is the fourth state, beyond the three. It is that still sky. We find it in satsangat, the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One. Nadree paar utaaree: by grace, the One carries us across.

A Question to Sit With

How does spending time with kind people change the way you feel inside?
