The One made Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva and the gods. Brahma was given the Vedas, the old holy books, and was set to worship.
The ten avatars came, and Rama the king. In the flow of the One, they rushed out and defeated the demons.
Shiva, the great lord, serves the One, yet cannot find where the One ends.
The One set up its throne on Truth. It gave the whole world its work and keeps itself hidden from view. From the very beginning, the One has asked us to live rightly.
Even the greatest powers people have honored are made by the One and serve the One.
Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva are honored in Hindu tradition as creator, keeper and transformer. The ten avataars are forms Vishnu takes to set the world right, and Rama is the beloved king of the Ramayana. Guru Nanak names them all with respect, as made by the One and serving the One. Hukam, the flow of existence, moves through all of them.
Dunee-aa dhandhai laa-ay aap chhapaa-i-aa: the One gives the world its work and stays hidden. Dharam karaa-ay karam: the One has us do right deeds. This is the steady heartbeat of the whole Vaar: live rightly.
Think of a theater director. The actors fill the stage, and the director is never seen, yet the whole play moves by that one plan.
What is bigger than the biggest thing you can name?
