Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
In the One's home, heavenly singers, sages and humble minstrels sing so sweetly.
All the holy books take on many forms in the One's theater, singing beautiful songs.
The wind waves the fan over the One.
Maya, who has won the whole world, is the One's servant girl.
The shell of the earth is the One's fireplace.
Such is the King of the three worlds.
All the music, wisdom and power in the world are singers and helpers in the One's home.
Gan gandharab rikhee bapurhay dhaadhee-aa — heavenly singers, wise sages and humble minstrels all sing there. Sarab saastar baho roopee-aa — all the holy books take many roles, like actors on a stage. That stage is the aakhaarhaa, the One's theater.
Then the helpers. Cha-ur dhool jaa chai hai pavan — the wind itself waves the cha-ur, the fan held over a king. Chayree sakat — Maya, the pull of the world toward money, power and showing off, is only a chayree, a helper in the house. Even the round earth is the family's cooking hearth.
Think of a school concert where every choir, band and actor in the city has come to one stage. Art, wisdom, wind and world all belong to one household. And Maya, which can feel like the boss of our lives, turns out to be a servant. That takes a lot of the fear away.
If everything around you were part of one song, what note would you want to be?
