The doors of doubt are thrown open, and I have met the Lord of the World; God's diamond has pierced the diamond of my mind.

Nanak blossoms forth in ecstasy, singing the Lord's Praises; my Lord and Master is the ocean of virtue. ||2||2||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The wall of doubt swings open, and I meet the good at last.

It takes something bright to reach something bright — and my heart blossoms with joy.

It takes something bright and pure to reach the bright, deep part of you — and then your heart blossoms with joy.
The deeper layer

The verse gives a vivid image: "the doors of doubt are thrown open... God's diamond has pierced the diamond of my mind." Only a diamond can cut a diamond — so only the pure, bright One can reach and open the bright, hard core of a heart. And the result is joy: "Nanak blossoms forth in ecstasy." The colophon (||2||2||3||) closes. For a child: it takes something bright and pure to reach the bright, deep part of you — and when it does, your heart blossoms with joy.

A Question to Sit With

What bright, good thing reaches the deepest part of you?
