A Chasing Mind Never Rests; Worries Follow Into Dreams

ugvai dinas aal jaal samHaalai bikh maa-i-aa kay bisthaaray.
At the break of day, they take care of their affairs, and the poisonous entanglements of Maya.

When night falls, they enter the land of dreams, and even in dreams, they take care of their corruptions and pains. ||5||

In plain words

From the start of the day, we can get tangled up chasing shiny things.

When night comes, our worries and wants follow us into our dreams.

A mind full of chasing and worrying never quite rests — the worries even follow into dreams.
The deeper layer

This one says: a mind busy chasing things never really rests.

"At the break of day they take care of their affairs," tangled in maa-i-aa. Maya means the shiny, busy world that keeps pulling at us. Then "when night falls," they go into dreams, and even there the same worries keep going.

Think of scrolling a phone all day, then dreaming about the game you were playing. The mind never gets a break. A mind full of grabbing takes its worries right into sleep. Remembering what really matters is what lets it rest.

A Question to Sit With

What helps your mind truly rest, instead of carrying worries into sleep?
