You Don't Have to Understand; Be a Beloved Child

jo parabh kee-aa so tum hee jaanhu ham nah jaanee har gahnay.
You alone, God, know whatever You do. O Lord, I do not know.

I am Your child; please enshrine Your Praises within my heart, God, so that I may remember You in meditation. ||3||

In plain words

Only You truly know all that You do — and it's okay that I don't.

"I am Your child," my heart says; "please keep Your goodness alive in me."

You don't have to understand everything — you can simply be a beloved child, trusting and cared for.
The deeper layer

The verse rests in trusting not-knowing: "You alone know whatever You do; I do not know. I am Your child — please enshrine Your Praises within my heart." The tender self-image — I am Your child — is the whole relationship: a child doesn't need to understand everything, only to trust a loving parent. For a child: you don't have to understand everything — you can simply be a beloved child, trusting and asking to keep the good alive inside you.

A Question to Sit With

What's something you don't understand yet, that you can trust anyway?
