The Good Is a Clear Lake; a Thirsty Heart Longs to Drink
ਤੁਮ ਜਲ ਨਿਧਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਨ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਜੋ ਸੇਵੈ ਸਭ ਫਲਣੇ ॥
tum jal niDh har maan sarovar jo sayvai sabh falnay.
You are the treasure of water, O Lord, the Maansarovar Lake. Whoever serves You receives all fruitful rewards.
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਂਛੈ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਕਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਣੇ ॥੪॥੬॥
jan naanak har har har har baaNchhai har dayvhu kar kirapnay. ||4||6||
Servant Nanak longs for the Lord, Har, Har, Har, Har; bless him, Lord, with Your Mercy. ||4||6||

You are like a great clear lake of sweet water — whoever serves You is richly blessed.
My heart longs and longs for You — please be kind to me.
The good is like a great clear lake of sweet water — and a thirsty heart longs to drink.
The shabad closes with the image of the Maansarovar — the mythic pure lake where the swans gather: "You are the treasure of water, the Maansarovar Lake... servant Nanak longs for You." The One is a lake of pure, life-giving water, and the heart is thirsty for it. The colophon (||4||6||) closes. For a child: the good is like a great clear lake of sweet water, and a thirsty heart longs to drink.
