They beg to receive charity in the hands of their hearts, embracing love and affection for the One. ||1||Pause||

In plain words

Those who are soaked in the Word, the Shabad, are the ones who have fully let go.

They hold out the hands of their own heart and beg for one gift. Their love is tuned to the One alone.

Those who have let go hold out the open hands of the heart and ask only for love.
The deeper layer

Those soaked in the Word have fully let go, and they ask only for love of the One.

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line at the center of the shabad. Sabad ratay pooray bairaagee: those soaked in the Shabad are the complete bairaagee. A bairaagee is someone who has let go of the world. Letting go happens inside, whatever you wear.

A-uhath hasat meh bheekhi-aa jaachee: they beg with the hands of their own heart. A wandering monk holds out a bowl for food. These people hold out their hearts instead. Ayk bhaa-ay liv laagee: they are tuned in love to the One. Love for the One is the only gift they ask for, and it is all the wealth they want. It is like a child who asks for a hug instead of a present.

A Question to Sit With

If you could ask the universe for just one thing, what would you hold your hands out for?
