The Commentary

The shabad moves from a hidden treasure to the one cure to the immeasurable One, and closes in humility. It opens by naming the Name a jewel and grace a light, warning how forgetfulness thickens into darkness within darkness. The rahau makes the diagnosis and the remedy plain: the world catches a restlessness that only the Name can cure. Then the scale of worlds cannot outweigh the One; the seesaw of pleasure and pain is answered by the fullness of a praising heart; and Nanak takes the low seat, gentle with himself, generous with all.
