Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I have taken shelter at the lotus feet of the One, and there I lean my whole weight.

You are high and exalted, grand and without end, my Lord and Master. You alone are above all.

You can lean your whole weight on what is vast and steady and never gives way.
The deeper layer

The One is vast, and the One is a safe place to lean.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. It begins charan kamal saran tayk: I take shelter and support at the One's lotus feet. Tayk means something to lean on.

Then the words grow bigger and bigger: ooch mooch bay-ant, high, grand, without end. They land on tuhee ayk: You alone, the One above all. Think of standing under a huge night sky. You feel small and full of wonder. Yet that same sky is also your shelter. Awe and safety stand together here.

A Question to Sit With

What in your life feels steady enough to lean on?
