In plain words

Clinging to Maya, the shiny world, has spread over the whole earth like a blanket.

A man sees a beautiful woman, and wanting carries him away.

His love for his children and his gold keeps growing.

He calls everything his own, yet the One stays a stranger to him.

You can call the whole world 'mine' and still be a stranger to the one thing that matters.
The deeper layer

The whole world is tangled in holding on, and you can call everything "mine" while the One stays a stranger.

Maa-i-aa mohi sagal jag chhaa-i-aa means attachment to maya, the shiny pull of the world, has spread over everyone. First comes the pull of beauty and wanting. Then comes love for sut kanchan, children and gold. These are tender, natural loves. Nothing is wrong with loving your family.

The sting is in the last line: sabh kichh apnaa ik raam paraa-i-aa. That means everything feels like "mine," but the One feels like a stranger. Picture a kid whose room is full of stuff labeled "MINE." Yet the one friend who made all of it possible has never been invited in. We can own a lot and still miss the One who matters most.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you call 'yours' that you couldn't keep forever?
