Through the Lord's Name, one obtains the most sublime and exalted state.

O Nanak, how rare are those humble beings, who seek and find the Lord. ||8||1||

In plain words

There is no other Maker; the One alone makes all and sees all.

The True One is beyond compare, more beautiful than anything, and without end.

Through the Naam of the One, you reach the highest state.

Nanak says: rare are the humble ones who search and find the One.

There is only One maker, and the rare joy is in going to look for it.
The deeper layer

There is no other Maker, and the Naam lifts you to the highest state; rare are those who search and find.

Avar naahee: there is no other Creator. The True One is anoop apaaro, beautiful beyond compare and without end. Raam naam ootam gat: the highest state comes through the Naam. Naanak khoj lahai jan ko-ee: how rare are those who search and find. The rarity is an invitation to search.

A Question to Sit With

What would it feel like to search for something not because you have to, but because you want to find it?
