In plain words

In kindness, the One has made me its own.

The One has given me the Naam to repeat, like a gift placed in my hands.

All day and all night, I sing the praises of the Lord of the Universe.

My fears are gone, and all my worry has lifted off.

Knowing you belong somewhere can lift the worry right off your chest.
The deeper layer

Belonging to the One takes fear away.

Kar kirpaa apunay parabh kee-ay means, in kindness, the One made me its own. Guru Arjan did not earn this by being clever or strong. It came as kirpaa, grace, a free gift.

Then the One gave him the Naam to keep repeating. So he sings the praises of gubind, the Lord of all, aath pahar, all day and night.

And here is what happens: bhai binsay utree sabh chind. Fear disappears, and all worry lifts off. Think of a child who is lost in a big store. The moment a parent's hand finds theirs, the fear is gone. Knowing you belong can take a heavy worry right off your chest.

A Question to Sit With

When you feel anxious, what helps you remember that you belong and are safe?
