In plain words

Remembering the Naam, all my wrongs are wiped away.

The record book of the Judge of what is right is torn up.

Joining the Sangat, I have tasted the sweetness of the One.

The Highest One has melted into my heart.

Hold the Naam, and the old weight you carry falls away.
The deeper layer

Remembering the Naam wipes old wrongs away, and the old record of them is torn up.

Simrat naam kilbikh sabh kaatay means by remembering the Naam, all wrongs are cut away. Kilbikh means wrongdoings, mistakes.

Next, Dharam raa-ay kay kaagar faatay. Dharam Raa-ay is the judge who keeps a record of what we do. Here his papers are torn up. Think of a teacher who says, "Let's start fresh," and rips up the list of old mistakes. This is a happy moment of release. It is not a threat hanging over you.

SaaDhsangat is the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One. Sitting with them, Guru Arjan tastes har ras, the sweetness of the One. And paarbarahm, the Highest One, melts into his heart.

A Question to Sit With

What old weight would you love to set down?
