In plain words

The unreachable, kind One has shown me mercy, and I speak the Naam of the One, Har, Har, with my mouth.

I keep in mind the Naam of the One who makes the fallen clean, and all my wrongs and mistakes are washed away.

No one is too far gone to be made clean.
The deeper layer

The kind One can wash anyone clean, whatever they have done.

The Guru calls the One patit paavan. It means the One who makes clean those who have fallen. It is a very hopeful name. It tells us no one is too far gone.

The verse says sabh kilbikh paap lahay: all my wrongs and mistakes came off. Look at how it says it. The mistakes are simply taken off, like mud rinsed from your shoes after a rainy walk. When we keep the One's Naam close, the old mess does not get the last word.

A Question to Sit With

What does it feel like to be forgiven and start fresh?
