In plain words

The Highest One is wise and skillful, and knows all things.

By great good fortune, the Perfect Guru is found. For one glimpse of the One, I would give my whole self.

Some things are so wonderful to simply behold that your whole heart gives itself over.
The deeper layer

The One is wise and knows everything, and one glimpse of the One is worth your whole self.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the song. Paarbarahm parabh sugharh sujaan means "the Highest Lord is skilled and all-knowing." Sugharh means wise and skillful. Sujaan means one who knows everything.

Gur pooraa paa-ee-ai vadbhaagee means "the perfect Guru is found by great good fortune." Then darsan ka-o jaa-ee-ai kurbaan: "I give my whole self for a glimpse." Darsan means seeing, a sight of the holy.

Think of the first time you saw the ocean, or a sky full of stars. You just stood there with your mouth open. Some things are so wonderful that your whole heart gives itself over in thanks.

A Question to Sit With

What have you seen — in nature or in a person — that took your breath away?
