In plain words

Some are forgiven by the One from the very beginning, and the perfect Guru shapes them in a true way.

Those dyed in love for the One keep that true color forever. Their pain is forgotten, and they are given honor.

Grace can be there from the very beginning, coloring you in a shade that never fades.
The deeper layer

Grace can be there from the very start, and it colors a life for good.

The verse says ik Dhur bakhas la-ay: some are forgiven from the very beginning. Grace is already here. It does not have to be earned. Then gur poorai sachee banat banaa-ee: the perfect Guru forms a true shape in them.

Next is har rang raatay sadaa rang saachaa. Those dyed in the One's love keep that true color forever. Think of a T-shirt dyed with good dye. Wash it a hundred times and the color stays. Cheap dye fades after one wash. Love for the One is the lasting kind. Then dukh bisray pat paa-ee: pain is forgotten, and honor is gained.

A Question to Sit With

What is a love or a kindness in your life that has never faded, no matter what?
