There is only One. And the One is found by the True Guru's grace — a gift that is always here, waiting for an open heart.
Mother, father, brothers and sisters, children, husband or wife — caught up with them, people enjoy their food and good times together.
The mind gets tangled up in sweet attachment.
Those who seek the goodness of the One are what my very breath of life leans on.
Family love is sweet, and the mind can get tangled in it; the people who seek the One's goodness hold your life up.
Maat pitaa bhaa-ee sut banitaa means mother, father, brothers, children and spouse. We share meals and happy times with them. That is a good thing.
But there is a risk. Urajh pari-o man meeth mohaaraa means the mind gets tangled in that sweetness. Think of a kite string caught in a tree. The kite is still pretty, but it cannot fly anymore. The mind can get so caught up that it forgets where all this love comes from.
So Guru Arjan says what holds him up. It is the gun gaahak, the people who seek the goodness of the One. His very breath leans on them.
How can you love your family without getting so tangled you forget yourself?
