According to the Hindus, the Lord's Name abides in the idol, but there is no truth in either of these claims. ||1||

If the One, Allah, lives only in the mosque, then whose is the rest of the world?
Hindus say the Naam lives in the statue. In neither claim is the truth found.
The One is not locked inside any building or any statue — the whole world is its home.
No building and no object can fence in the boundless One.
If the One lived only inside the mosque, the rest of creation would be orphaned — and the very same problem undoes the claim that the Name lives only inside a carved image. Both are the same mistake wearing different clothes: shrinking the boundless One down to a single spot. Ik Onkar means oneness is the whole fabric of what is; it cannot be somewhere and not somewhere else.
A Question to Sit With
Where do you feel closest to something bigger than yourself?
