In plain words

When the sun rises, the one facing the Guru speaks of the One. All through the night, they keep the One's words in mind.

My Lord has placed this longing in me, and so I search for my Lord, the One.

Even the longing to find the One is placed in you as a gift.
The deeper layer

Speak of the One as the sun comes up; even your longing for the One is a gift.

Prabhaatee is the morning raag, the music for sunrise. ugvai soor gurmukh har boleh — when the sun rises, the gurmukh, the one facing the Guru, speaks of the One. All through the night, too, the One is on their mind.

hamrai parabh ham loch lagaa-ee — my Lord has placed this loch, this longing, in me. ham karah parabhoo har bhaal — so I search for the One.

Think of a sunflower. It turns toward the sun all by itself. Nobody pushes it. The longing to seek the One works like that. Even the wanting to look is a gift from the One.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you long for so deeply that the longing itself feels meaningful?
